"Welcome to McAlpine Equestrian Centre in Vankleek Hill..."
Our wonderful horses are patient and quiet so that learners can gain confidence while participating in equestrian activities of all kinds. We enjoy creating an atmosphere where horses and humans work together to learn to communicate and respect one another. Rewards and love are an essential part of our training program.
Our aim is to create a pleasant and cheerful atmosphere for both horses and horseback riders. We believe that everyone learns best when they feel positive and confident. We believe that competition is a means to gauge the success of training, but is not a goal in itself. Instead, we encourage cooperation where everyone helps each other and we all learn together.
Basic horseback riding lessons involve levels for beginner riders through intermediate and advanced instruction in both English and Western style riding. Our emphasis is on Safety First stressing the basic fundamentals of balance and control at all levels. Dressage is approached as basic and essential training for both horse and rider.
The basics of horsemanship provide beginner riders with a firm foundation for continuing their enjoyment of horseback riding. More advanced riders are encouraged to learn the principals of training in dressage and jumping. For those interested, we also teach the basics of Western Pleasure riding.
Balanced Horsemanship is a unique technique developed by Samme Putzel which includes complete training of horse and rider through body language and communication. This training approach builds confidence and joy in equestrian performance.
